REEL Sanctuary
REEL Sanctuary is a ministry that combines watching films with discussions about their spiritual implications. It’s main purpose is to encourage spiritual discernment in and through the main storytelling medium of our time. We do not always support the views in the films that we see, but our purpose is to prepare ourselves to dialogue with each other and those we may encounter. "We need to look as Christians at the stories that contemporary culture is telling us by learning how to discern and evaluate perspectives in these representations of life in God’s world." (taken from "Eyes Wide Open: Looking for God in Popular Culture," by William D. Romanowski).
REEL Sanctuary is taking the summer off! We will meet next on Saturday, September 13. It is a time for gathering together to watch a film, then discuss the film in a sacred context afterwards. After viewing the movie, there will be a group discussion about the film and how it relates to our faith and Christianity today. Questions or to be added to the email list - contact Karyn at reelsanctuary@yahoo.com.
